Welding Equipment For All Extruded Products
Polyurethane/Polyester Welding Equipment
We offer three versions of our Polyurethane/Polyester welding equipment for both bench top operation, which rarely require the welding of belts on the drive itself and lightweight units for confined areas requiring the fitting of belts to the application.
Welding Jig Unit
For bench top use, and occasional or continual
replacement of belts we would recommend our
Welding Jig unit. Available as a complete kit
comprising of a
thermostatically controlled heating element on
a very durable aluminium base assembly, belt
clamp and associated hand tools for preparing
belt length and trimming.
Method of welding is to produce a ‘butt’ weld joint by melting each end of the extrudate simultaneously. Then once molten, bring the two ends together and allow to cool, remove the flash and the belt is ready for use.
Supplied in either 230V or 110V, they are portable allowing the user to complete and repair belts directly on the application. A full instruction sheet is supplied with every unit giving a step by step guide to performing a successful weld.
Welding iron unit
For the more difficult to reach, confined areas
we would recommend our Welding Iron unit.
Each kit comprise of a 75W/230V or 110V iron
with an in line voltage regulator to give
temperature control, fitted with a specially
designed blade tip suitable for all sections of
belting. In addition you have the option of
either our plastic belt clamp or metal clamp
unit, also with both sets of trimming clippers
are included with the optional extra plastic.
Each kit is supplied in a plastic case with a choice of plastic or metal clamp unit for the more demanding environment, (prices do vary depending on which one you choose) and suitable clippers for preparing and finishing the joint area. We can also supply individual items of both units to suit your requirements. Please contact our sales team for advice and pricing.
Overlap Splice kit for Reinforced Section
Bond a Band Transmissions Ltd offer a patented system of producing a reliable joint on our
range of reinforced extrusions both round and V. The only effective way of maximising joint
performance without physically joining the reinforced core is by producing an overlap
joint. This involves producing a finished joint with both reinforced cores laying side by side
within the finished belt joint area giving maximum shear strength. Our aim is to supply in kit
form all that’s needed allowing the end user to complete a finished joint in minimal time on
site. Our unique system utilises the benefits of hot air rather than heated platens to deliver heat directly to required area. This use of hot air avoids contamination within the joint area, which potentially can cause joint failure. Each kit comes complete with all equipment and one set of tooling specific to the section you use. Additional tooling for all reinforced sections available off the shelf.
Welding Procedure
- Determine the finished length of belt
- Prepare both ends using the template and trim excess material away
- Place in the hand clamp, insert heat gun and apply heat
- When required heat is applied remove gun and squeeze the pliers closed, leave joint to cool then remove excess flash with tools provided
